Griffin Bike Park (Terre Haute, Indiana): On November 4 Griffin Bike Park hosted a triple ground breaking. The Heros trail connects the park with Fowler park, while Fubar is a new black diamond tech trail. Another black diamond trail, Recon officially opened this month as well.

Happy Face Trail (Truckee, California): The Happy Face trail is a new climbing trail in the Sawtooth trail area. Also the Ridgeline Nature Loop, a push-bike friendly trail, opened in November.

Kiroli Park (West Monroe, Louisiana): About three miles of new trails were officially opened on November 19 at Kiroli Park.

Locust Shade Park (Triangle, Virginia): A new 1-mile advanced trail opened at Locust Shade Park, and a total of two miles have been designated for bikes. Volunteers built six bridges and over $100,000 was raised to support the trail project. Ken Goldwasser shares more about the build:

“Nestled between two major thoroughfares in Northern Virginia, Locust Shade Park is home to approximately 7 miles of trail, including two miles designated specifically as mountain biking trail, the first of their kind in Prince William County (PWC). When you see what trail liaison Martin Fernandez and a cast of volunteers have been able cram into this tight 160 acres you’ll see why they say Locust Shade is a little bit of the PNW in PWC. Working with only 190 feet of elevation at the highest point and steep hillsides, Martin and team have created an MTB trail system that can be described in one word, ‘engaging.’ Locust Shade’s varying terrain, with the roots and rocks that are characteristic of Mid Atlantic riding, combined with Martin’s trail building vision, keep riders alert. You will regret it if you zone out while riding Locust Shade. Martin made the most of what the terrain offered him: rather than take the simple route, he made lots of fun choices to the benefit of riders of all skill levels. In addition to punchy climbs and flowy descents, you’ll find low skinnies, raised, curved skinnies, stacked stumps, wood features, and more. “
