Fuji Bikes is celebrating the new year with a new Rakan LT 29er model, cutting travel by a centimeter front and rear from their 160mm 27.5″ Auric LT bikes. The new big-wheeled ride gets 29″ wheels front and rear, with a 160mm fork to accompany its 150mm rear axle path. The aluminum frame has internal cable routing for a clean look and an external BB for quick repairs.
The Rakan LT uses Fuji’s MLink suspension design that the brand says “offers small bump sensitivity, while handling the bigger bumps on the trail with ease.” The Horst link system has a mid chain stay rear pivot, instead fo the usual location just below the axle.
Geometry on the new Rakan LT is appropriately long and slack for a bike with enduro racing intentions. The reach measurement on size small frames is a roomy 450mm, climbing by 2cm per size to a 510mm size large. Small bikes have a 77.5° seat tube angle, leaning back to 77° on the medium, and 76.5° on the large and XL frames. The slack factor on this bike rivals some downhill machines, at 63.7° across the size run. All of the frames have whippy 435.8mm chainstays that should help maneuver these long bikes down tighter trails.
The Rakan 29 LT 1.5 build is the more affordable choice, retailing for $2,799.99 with a 160mm RockShox Yari RC fork and Super Deluxe Coil Select shock, a full Shimano Deore drivetrain, 4-piston TRP Trail-S brakes, a Tranz X dropper post, and a wheel set with WTB ST i30 TCS 2.0 rims and Formula hubs. The more expensive build, Rakan 29 LT 1.1, priced at $3,999.99 receives a RockShox ZEB Select+ fork, a Super Deluxe Coil Select+ shock, a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain, TRP Quadiem 4-piston brakes, a Crankbrothers Highline dropper post, and DT Swiss M1900 Spline 30 wheels. Those are some good looking builds for the bucks.
