Good solution to moving multiple nontraditional bikes. I have a four place, and I'm glad I got it. It mounts pretty low on my minivan though. Occasionally drags on the ground when driving on or off ramps, culverts, etc.
Pros Holds 2 or 4 bikes of any style, built in locks
Cons HEAVY! Not a rack to take on and off vehicle easily. Can be too low for some vehicles.
I bought this new and then went on a 6 week 18 state 10,000 mile road trip with my son where we mostly camped out on dirt roads. So I put it and my bikes through the ringer. And gotta say it did great with only a few small complaints. It's still on the back of my Durango right now and bikes still have a paint on em. Glad I bought it.
Pros Doesn't touch frame. Locks bike up. Rides good. Heavy duty. Real fast on and off. The tilt down works great with my Durangos back hatch.
Cons Keys to the locks are flimsy. After awhile the lever for the tilt hangs with the bikes on. You have to tighten up the hitch lock every 3 or 4 days.
Overall I love this rack. It is mounted on a Toyota Tundra. It is impossible to see the rack unless there is a bike on it so it makes it pretty difficult to back up. Bikes are very secure and the rack is solid as a rock when mounted. Comes with a lock for the hitch so it can stay mounted. I would recommend this rack.
Pros Securely holds two bikes. Bikes can be locked and rack folds.
Cons Expensive and heavy to fold down with bikes on it. Only comes with two lock cylinder and should come with four.
Very secure rack, no movement when driving, holds bikes securely without touching the frame - which is awesome on the paint job! Easy to use, folds up nice. No worries, load and go.
Pros Nothing touched the frame of your bike. Comes with locks for the rack itself and on each wheel arm. Easy to load/unload. Rack folds up nicely behind your vehicle when not in use - has a tilt back function as well to access back gate of vehicle (seems unnecessary as you could just drop the rack like you were going to put a bike on it, but I guess a nice feature). Can be expanded to a four bike rack with add-on.
Cons Expensive. Unlike hanging bike racks, you can't see the rack at all so no reference point when backing up (I have to parallel park constantly)
I just started using this rack and love it. Its very easy and very secure. I feel very confident driving with my expensive bike on it. I don't know how much I trust the tire arm locks though. Good to have for added security, but I also use a lock cable if I know it will be sitting somewhere.
Pros One key locks the two arms and the hitch bolt.
Pros
Ease of installation. Solid bike mounts - no shake, rattle, or bump.
Cons
Thank |Wish the swing away was better.
Overall a very good rack. It is on the heavy side to take out and in but it is very secure. I would recommend it!
Pros
Ease of use
Cons
Thank |Lock does not reach back wheel ... need additional locks to secure back wheel.
Get the newer version if you plan to own a fat bike.
Pros
Good rack with an extension. Bombproof for the most part. Best hitch rack I've owned.
Cons
Thank |Doesn't fit fat bikes without modifications
