I didn't like the idea of spending $texas on a light as I wasn't 100% sure I'd like night riding. I found these knock-offs on Amazon for $25'ish and figured why not? And they are compatible with most MagicShine style light accessories, making upgrading and fixing them an easy job.
I bought 3. One for the helmet, so I can have light where I'm looking (very useful in turns), and two for the bike. The two on the bike are split, one is a spot and I picked up a diffused lens to spread the light out (30* swatch, vice 10*), spilling out on to the wider portions of the trail.
When I'm in a group, I can run all 3 lights at their lowest setting and I have plenty of light available to me. Pick up the pace or ride by myself, and I'll run the lights at the medium setting, still netting me hours of available light. And, if I should have a battery pack or light fail, I have 2 still going to (hopefully) get me back to my car.
If you think you might be interested in doing night rides, these lights are the perfect option to try it out without breaking the bank.
Pros Cheap price
High lumen output
compatible with pricier makes/models
versatile
Cons No orange peel coating in reflector
single strap on battery pack holder
